Bac Ninh Provincial leaders received a delegation from the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association to explore investment cooperation opportunities.

(BNP) – On August 27, Comrade Mai Son, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee received and worked with the working delegation of the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association led by Mr. Ang Wee Seng, Executive Director, to explore cooperation opportunities in the province. Also attending the meeting were Mr. Cao Xuan Thang, Commercial Counselor, Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore and representatives of relevant departments and branches.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Comrade Mai Son expressed his pleasure to welcome and work with the delegation. He informed about the socio-economic development situation in the first 7 months of 2025, including the results of attracting foreign investment in the province.

Comrade Mai Son outlined the province’s outstanding features and strengths in developing electronics, high technology and semiconductor industries; some investment support policies and investment attraction orientations.

Aiming to become a class I city directly under the Central Government, Bac Ninh province has been actively investing in and upgrading its infrastructure system; attracting investment resources to build social infrastructure works and other technical infrastructure according to the planning to achieve the goal of urban development and improve the quality of life of the people.

Bac Ninh province currently has 33 established industrial parks, with a total area of 10,171 hectares and 93 established industrial clusters, with a total area of 3,497 hectares. Large corporations investing in industries, using modern technology, with large production lines have changed the structure of industrial products in the province.

In particular, smartphones have been the main product of Samsung Bac Ninh Complex since 2015, becoming the main product manufactured in the province. This has contributed to making Bac Ninh in particular and Vietnam in general become the center for manufacturing and assembling components for electronic products of many major technology companies in the world such as Samsung, LG, Canon, Toshiba, etc.

Comrade Mai Son assessed that Singapore is one of the major trade partners of Bac Ninh enterprises and hoped that Singaporean enterprises would continue to learn and invest more and more in the province. The Semiconductor Industry Association in Singapore will introduce large corporations to invest in Bac Ninh.

Bac Ninh province creates the most favorable conditions for investors and economic groups to have an open, transparent, and long-term stable investment and business environment, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province. He asked investors to study in depth the fields they plan to invest in and other fields in which they have strengths and Bac Ninh province has potential and advantages.

Comrade Mai Son assigned the Department of Finance, the Department of Industry and Trade, and the Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board to coordinate as the focal point to receive, provide information, answer questions, and guide investors in the process of learning about investment in the province. Relevant departments and branches, based on their functions and tasks, are responsible for coordinating to ensure the cooperation between the two sides achieves the highest efficiency.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Ang Wee Seng thanked the leaders of Bac Ninh province for their warm and open reception; and briefly introduced the functions and tasks of the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA). This is a key organization representing the interests of the Singapore microelectronics industry. SSIA’s mission is to connect the semiconductor industry in Singapore and around the world, creating a platform for industry leaders to share insights and experiences from practice. The Association focuses on promoting emerging technologies and promoting collaborative initiatives.

The Singapore government has been a staunch supporter of the semiconductor industry, implementing various initiatives to spur growth. It invests funds to enhance research, development and innovation in the semiconductor sector. The semiconductor industry accounts for nearly 7% of Singapore’s gross domestic product, demonstrating the important role it plays in the national economy.

Mr. Ang Wee Seng expressed his wish that provincial leaders, departments and branches create the most favorable conditions for Singaporean semiconductor industry enterprises to learn about and survey the investment environment; at the same time, support and guide investment, production and business procedures in Bac Ninh.
